The dust settles over the battlefields of Sacaellum and
Broderick Worr stands victorious. The Dark Eldar’s stranglehold on the Traxis
Sector has been broken. Even the forces of Chaos, lead my mighty Zarathur,
could not defeat the Astra Militarum Commisar. After vanquishing these
foes one last xenos army stood in his way: Old One Eye led a tyranid invasion
into the system. And despite the string of victories the legendary carnifex had
to his name he, in the end, was no match for Worr…
Another season down – and this one was our best yet! Prezi
wins with Worr (who saw plenty of action this season).
So yeah...Worr. He was the most played
Warlord with 70 appearances as well as the warlord with the highest win rate –
59%. 5 of the 8 warlords in the Top 8 games were Worr, as were 3 of the Top 4.
This Warlord might be new but he looks as though he is here to stay in
competitive play.
Kith took a bit of a dip. She tied with Zarathur for 4th
place in win rate at 55%. She also came in tied for 4th place in
popularity (her and Ragnar both showed up 51 times). She only had 1 showing in
the Top 16 and lost there (piloted by 2-time defending champ Corvus).
Zarathur made a big jump in popularity. He was the 2nd
most played Warlord (67 appearances) and tied with Kith for the 4th best
win rate at 55% (this lead Chaos as well).
Chaos was the most played faction – 123 appearances – followed
closely behind by Space Marines (110). Aside from Worr, Ba’ar Zul the
Hate-Bound was the most played of the Planetfall Warlords with 11 appearances
and a 3-8 record.
7 of the
8 factions all finished within 5 percentage points of each other for overall win rate.
That is some well-balanced game design right there! Nids finished the highest
at 55%, Eldar at 53%, Orks at 52%, SM, DE and AM all finished at 51% and Chaos
finished at 50%. The lone disappointment was Tau. Couldn’t even sniff an “around
.500” win rate. They brought up the bottom at 33%. Shadowsun and Aun’Shi both
finished 7-14 and Starblaze was the least played warlord win 1 lone appearance
and zero wins…
Speaking of bringing up the rear: Morn went 0-4 (yes she’s
new but she proved the less popular of the 2 Boundless Hate Warlords – which I
find strange because I think she’s better than Ba’ar Zul) and TC Hammer took
his time showing up and then promptly went 0-3.
In the surprise column I’d list Nids and Orks. ‘Ol Zoggy had
a strong showing – a 54% win rate and 26 appearances. This could’ve perhaps
been even better had one of the Zogwart players not had to drop when he was
sitting at 4-0. Three different Top Cut players piloted him. Also Nazdreg’s win
rate got a boost once the new Ork cards from Boundless Hate went up on OCTGN.
Nids saw a vast improvement over last season. Swarmlord
finished with a respectable 50% win rate and 22 appearances and Old One Eye (thanks
in part to DLord) did very well. He had the 2nd best win rate – 58%.
It was so close that had DLord beaten Prezi in the final game then Old One Eye
would’ve edged out Worr for the best record. He also had 31
appearances. Even if you take DLord’s games out of the equation (he went 6-2
with him), Old One Eye would still have finished at a respectable 52% win rate,
better than many of the more “well-established” Warlords.
Forward Barracks and Klaivex tied for the number 1 spot as
listed MVPs – each with 8. Drop Pod Assault, Honored Librarian, Sowing Chaos
and Preemptive Barrage all came in next with 7 MVP votes, followed by Ammo
Depot, Archon’s Terror, Gleeful Plaguebeast and Warpstorm with 6 votes.
That’s about as much Warlord detail as I’ll get into since
you can check out all the stats for yourself at DNapolitano’s webpage HERE.
As always the comments section was full of some venting and
chuckle-inducing-comments. I’ve pasted them below for your enjoyment.
So, in closing – THANK YOU! To all who participated, helped
out and donated. I hope to see all of you (and more of your friends) next
season! Registration opens April 10th, 2016. See you then.

Ragnar had big
advantage in cards over Kith
|
GravyK was great to
play against, I was new to OCTGN and he did not mind my sometime slow turns.
This said he forgot at one point to take his command struggle resources and
cards (from 3 planets) it was technically already to late, but being a true
player I had no issues with him taking it. Thanks for the game GravyK wow
that was crazy!

helluva game. Won with
just Bannered Ku'Gath left at last planet!

Technically a turn 6

exciting game!

Hot marine on marine

your mom is so fat,
she's got terminators fighting tyranids inside of her.
|
Concession round 4,
because my win on turn 5 was inevitable - either I kill his warlord with
triple catachan outpost, ragnar's camp and frostfang (attacking for 20) or he
cedes the planet to me losing the game. Insert as assassination/planets
victory accordingly.
